Craig Barron felt like singing in the rain after an exceptional round on Saturday.

The big-hitting 17 handicapper made light of the wet conditions and slow greens to rack up 44 stableford points in easily winning the match of the day.

His outward nine of 39 included a birdie four at No 9, while his inward 42 included another birdie four at No 12 for an impressive 81 off the white tees.

Another lengthy 17 handicapper, Brendan Doyle, finished second with a creditable 39 points. His 88 included birdies at No 6 and No 15 and a 10 on No 1.

The smooth swinging Graham Galt took third on countback from Sloan team mates James Campion and Pete Green after all posted 37 points. Graham's round featured some pinpoint chipping and putting.

James' s 73 off the stick consisted of a birdie, 15 pars and just two bogies, while Pete's 74 was all pars apart for two bogies.

Keir Kotua was another in good nick, shooting a 76 for 36 points and sixth on a day of surprisingly good scoring.

He was followed by the trio of Lewis Wilson, Jonathan Tuheke and Steve Russell who came in with 34 points apiece.

Paul Tunnicliff and Neil McLaren - who each recorded 33 points - completed the top half of the field.

Andy Isle and Barry Rhodes shared the twos money with one each.

Next week (April 20) we play the first round of the Brebde senior/junior, which was postponed a week to enable more people to enter. Please get your name into the draw before Saturday.
