Momentum makes a difference and Maurice Woodhouse has it.

Fresh from two matchplay successes and a midweek win, Maurice rode the wave to win the third round of the Barkman Trophy and Shootout on Saturday (June 1).

Playing off a 17 handicap from the white tees on a warm early winter day, Maurice went out in 43 and back in 44 for a solid 87.

His net 70 was the only score under handicap despite the excellent conditions.

Peter Watson - who started well but faded on the back nine - claimed second with a net 73.

Brendan Doyle finished third on countback after both he and Jonathan Tuheke recorded 74.

The trio of Graham Galt, Peter Green and Garth Jameson were next with 75, while Aaron Kotua (76) and Jim McMullan (77) rounded out the top the top 10.

Graham scooped the twos money  with the only one of the day, thanks to a long downhill putt on No 5.

The two Peters shot the best gross scores of the day with matching 79s.

Heather Carey continued her good form by being the best of the 9-holers with a +2 in the par competition off the front nine. John Dixon (-1) finished second.

Next Saturday (June 8) we play the quarterfinals of the Individual Matchplay and plate competition, while the 9-holers play an Irish stableford round of the back nine.
