Club results for 1/7/23

The Captain's team was flushed with success after winning the annual W C Loo Trophy against the President's team on Saturday.

In what was a bit of light relief after several full-on matchplay competitions, two randomly drawn teams battled for bragging rights and the toilet seat trophy which was last played for in 2012 when the President's team prevailed.

Despite a dry day, heavy conditions underfoot made good scoring difficult, with only club captain Peter Green playing to his handicap. His excellent net 72 off the white tees which featured a jackpot with twos at No 5 and 11 helped propel his team to a decidedly average net score of 78.18, comfortably better than the President's team's stinky 80.3. Peter went out in 38 and back in 37 for 75, the best gross of the day He was well supported by Peter Watson, who finished second on countback from two President players Maurice Woodhouse and Lewis Wilson after all came in with net 76. Next best were 77s from Mike Savage and Garth Jameson from the Captain's team and President player Keri Kotua.

Both Garth and Lewis slotted twos to share some of the kitty with Peter G. 

Among the nine-holers, Lloyd Moyle prevailed yet again with a net 36. Paul McCrae finished second on 39, while Ali Mawby was the best woman with 44.

Next Saturday (July 8) we play the fourth round of the Barkman Trophy and the MS Ford Shootout.
