Jason Lee and Sam Tatterton are into the final of the Brebde Senior/Junior after a come-from-behind win on Friday.

On a great day for golf, the pair were one down at the turn against Keri Kotua and Chris Louth but finished strongly for a 2-up victory.

Despite not having played for some weeks and being on an outdated handicap of 14, Sam was instrumental in the win. His net 75 was the best of the quartet and his powerful hitting was the difference on a number of holes, highlighted by an eagle on the par five No 9 over the river. He received steady support from Jason.

With Chris having an off-day, Keri had to do much of the heavy lifting and it proved just a bit too much of a stretch at the end. One down going down the 18th, they couldn't produce a comeback.

Jason and Sam will play Dean Goodman and Phil Sellers in the final on a date still to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, just a hardy - or foolish - few braved the very wet and windy conditions on Saturday in what counted as the sixth round each of the Barkman Trophy and MS Ford Shootout. Only three players actually completed their rounds before the course became unplayable, with the greens ponding and fairways saturated. Those who were still to finish were permitted to fill in the holes they didn't play according to their handicap.

This was good news for Aaron Kotua who beat Peter Watson on countback after both recorded net 75s, which was a decent effort in the conditions.

Mike Savage was third after a 77. He was followed by Peter Green (79), Neil McLaren (80) and Garth Jameson (86). There were no twos.

Next Saturday (Aug 26) we play the first qualifying round of the club champs, which also counts as the first round of the Stroke and as another Barkman and Shootout round. We tee off the blue tees from 10am.
