Club results for 25/7/26

Andy Isle has taken over the lead in the Six-Hole Challenge, winning the second round played on Saturday (July 25) with an imposing 24 points.

A regular club winner over the years, Andy had a narrow loss and win in his first two six-hole matches before collecting maximum points in the his third match to storm to the top of the leaderboard with one round to play. 

Despite the tough playing conditions after heavy rain the day before and occasional showers during the competition, there was some good golf played, with Lewis Wilson posting the best net with a 71, while Andy played to his handicap with a 72 and Matt Tomczyk was just one over his with a 73.

Peter Watson and Graham Eggers chased Andy all the way in recording 23 points - where players got two points for winning a hole and one for a half - to move into joint second with first-round leader Gareth Edwards who came in with 19 points.

Andrew Craig carded a second 21 score to remain just off the pace.

His 21 score was matched by Aaron Kotua, while Matt and Lewis were next with 20 apiece.

No-one managed a two. Jarrod Huss, who had an otherwise shocker of a day, at least walked away with the prize for the closest to the pin on No 5/14 after doing it twice.

So after two of three rounds, Andy leads on 45 points followed by Gareth, Graham and Peter on 43 and Andrew on 42.  

The 9-holers again outnumbered the 18-holers, with Andrew Bosselmann winning comfortably  with an excellent +4 score for the par competition. Playing off an 8 for the front nine, he went round in an even 40. Paul Tunnicliff finished second on +1, with Richard Pearson taking third on countback from Neil McLaren, Rebecca Gibson and Jack Denton after all came in on 0. Next were John Dryden and Andrew Dean on -1.

Again, nobody bagged a two, with a now generous kitty awaiting the first person who can.

Nest week (August 1) both the 18 and 9-holers tee off at the earlier times of 9am and 11am respecitvely in order to finish before a Tasman Rugby golf tournament in the early afternoon. The 18-holers will play round five of the Barkman Trophy and Shootout from the white tees, while the 9-holers play a net round off the front nine.

The third and final round of the Six-Hole Challenge will be played on August 8.
