Andy Isle added another cup to his extensive collection gathered over many years when he won the Six-Hole Challenge after a strong third round finish on Saturday (Aug 2).
The experienced campaigner bagged 23 points - the best of the day - to surge to victory with a three-round total of 65 in the format which sees each player play three six-hole games of matchplay against drawn partners off the white tees, with two points for each hole won and one point for a half.
Joint second-round leader Chris Louth couldn't maintain the momentum but his 19 points was good enough for a total of 62 and second place, while the other second round leader Matt Tomcyzk faded out of contention with just 15 points to end on 55.
Keri Kotua finished third after a final round of 19 points took him to a total of 59. He also slotted the only two of the day, on No 2.
James Campion - who shot the best gross with 77 - came in fourth with 57 following a 20-point haul.
While Andy went home with the cup and match of the day honours, Peter Watson - who missed the second round - enjoyed a perfect winter's day in claiming second with 22 points. Graham Eggers and Aaron Kotua also had good outings in totalling 21 points each.
Roma Elkington recorded the best net of the day, a 72, with Peter W next on 73.
Paul McCrae returned to his winning ways to win the 9-hole competition, which was a par round off the front nine. He was the only golfer to better his handicap with a +1 score. Jimmy Gargiulo pipped Paul Tunnicliff for second on countback after both finished at 0.
Next Saturday (Aug 9) we play the fourth round of the Barkman Trophy and Shootout off the white tees, while the 9-holers play a net round off the back nine.
