Barry Rhodes was back to his straight-hitting best in winning the fourth and final round of the Penketh Plate on Saturday (Feb 3).

Playing off a 25-handicap on the white tees, his tidy 93 off the stick in changeable weather conditions for a net 68 got the job done.

It was within one shot of winning the silverware, which went to Graham Galt who finished his final round third on countback with a net 70.

With the best three of four rounds counting which had to include the all-irons round, Graham tallied 214, which was just good enough to edge out Barry and Andy Isle who tied for second on 215.

Paul Tunnicliff was fourth overall on 221.

Andrew Craig claimed second on the day on countback after carding a net 70.

Jack Denton came home in fourth with a 71. He was followed by Keri Kotua and Dean Goodman on 72, Richard Pearson and Ian Hanford on 73 and the foursome of Garth Jameson, Maurice Woodhouse, Andy Isle and Steve Russell on 74.

James Campion (76) and Dean (78) shot the best gross scores of the day.

Aaron Kotua and Jack shared the twos money with one each.

Steve Turnell headed the 9-holers with a net 37 for the back nine, which was two ahead of the trio of Paul McCrae, John Dixon and Andrew Dean.

Next Saturday (Feb 10) we play the first round of the Cap-it-all Trophy, which is a pairs competition starting with an individual net round. Please select your partners before tee-off. The second round – a four ball best ball – will be held on Feb 24 in conjunction with Total Golf’s Beat The Pro contest.

The 9-holers play a net round off the front nine.
