Graham Eggers celebrated Easter by winning the first round of the season-long Barkman Trophy on Saturday (April 4).
The 16-handicapper shot a net 68 after carding an 84 off the white tees in calm conditions, going out in 40 and coming back in 44.
His round - which saw him make a fast start to the Shootout as well as taking maximum Barkman points - featured birdies at the par five No 9 and at the par-three No 11.
Gabriel Tijsen was also in good form in finishing second with a net 70 after carding an 80 off the stick consisting of matching 40s, which was the joint best gross of the day along with Keri Kotua.
Bryan Ramsey rediscovered his touch with a 71 to take third on countback from Lindsay Brooks.
They were followed by Roma Elkington, Dave Huntley, Keri, Ian Hanford, Craig Barron and Brendan Doyle on 73, with the first three earning Barkman points on countback.
Gareth Edwards and Neil McLaren shared the twos money with Graham.
John Dixon again showed that age is no barrier to playing good golf when the super veteran won the 9-holer's competition with 22 stableford points off the front nine.
Mark Sherlaw secured second with 21 points, which included a lucrative two at No 2 after one hadn't been scored for some weeks.
Paul Tunnicliff finished third with 20 and Barry Rhodes was fourth with 19.
Next Saturday (April 11) the 18-holers play the first round of the Brebde Senior/Junior, which is a knockout matchplay competition played on handicap with drawn partners.
The 9-holers will play a par round off the back nine.
