Club results for 5/4/25

After thankfully escaping major damage from this week's deluge, the opening day of our season on Saturday was understandably low key on a still saturated course.

Following a short working bee to sweep debris off three greens, we played a four ball best ball with drawn partners using the white tees.

Graham Eggers has only recently resumed playing after a break of some years but it hardly showed as the 16-handicapper and his partner Andy Isle combined sweetly for a net 63 to take the honours.

James Campion - who shot a one-under 71 off the stick - and Peter Watson posted a 66 to finish second, while Garth Jameson and Aaron Kotua claimed third on countback from Dean Goodman and Mark Clucas after both pairs came in with 68.

James bagged the only two of the day at No 11.

Sue and Lloyd Moyle headed the nine-holers on countback from Ali Mawby and Phil Sellers after both recorded net 33.

We enjoyed our traditional opening day BBQ after prize-giving. Thanks go to the volunteer chefs.

Next Saturday (April 12) we play the first round of the Brebde Senior/Junior Trophy which is matchplay on handicap with drawn partners. Please report by 9.30am for a 10am tee-off to allow the starter time to do a draw. It would be a big help if players would register with the golf shop before Saturday if they want to take part in this knockout competition.

The 9-holers play a net round off the back nine.
