Mick Leggett is the Six-Hole Challenge champion for 2023 after a steady final round in the Saturday winter sunshine.

Holding a commanding nine-point lead over the chasing pack and with his nearest rival Garth Jameson away, Mick accumulated 18 points playing off a 27 handicap in his three mini matches to ease to victory.

His 66 points scored over 54 holes against nine different rivals was three better than Chris Louth who had an outstanding 27-point finale to storm into second place. A 29-handicapper, Chris lost only two of his last 18 holes to top the match of the day standings. James Campion - who only played the last two rounds but totalled an impressive 50 points playing off a 2 handicap - came home in 24 points for the second best score of the day.

Veteran leftie Peter Watson finished third on the day and third overall on 61 points after a final day tally of 22 points.

James with a 77 and Peter with a 79 were the only golfers to break 80 off the stick.

Peter and Mick shared the twos money with one each.

Among the nine-holers, Paul McCrae prevailed with 19 stableford points, two ahead of the in-form Ali Mawby.

Next week (Aug 12) we play the the fifth round of the Barkman Trophy and Shootout. The 9-holers will play a net round off the front nine.
