Club results for 5/9/26

Gareth Edwards and Peter Watson teamed up well to win the match of the day on Saturday (Sept 5).

They won the combined net with drawn partners competition with a total of 146 off the white tees, with Gareth leading the way with a solid 72 and Peter chipping in with 74.

Matt Tomczyk (70) did his best but he and his offsider Aaron Kotua (78) fell just short, settling for second on 148.

Next were Andrew Bosselmann (73) and Sivina Jacobs-Harawira (79) and the pairing of Micayla Lowden (75) and Kerei Kotua (77) on 152 each. 

Fifth were Mick Leggett (71) and Phil Rogers (82) on 153.

The round also counted towards the Barkman Trophy and Shootout, with Matt's 70 earning him maximum points. 

his 82 off the stick was notable for a back nine 39 which included a rare birdie at the tough finishing hole across the river.

He was followed by Mick (71), Gareth (72), Andrew (73), Peter (74), Dave Huntley (76), while Keri (77) earned the last point on offer.

Keri also had success on the greens, sinking the only two of the day on No 2 and getting closest to the pin on No 5/14.

No-one broke 80, with Nick Riddell recording the best gross of 81.

Marg Parfitt headed a healthy field of 9-holers, with a fine +3 for the front nine in the par competition. There was four-way scramble for the minor places after Richard Pearson, Paul McCrae, Paul Tunnicliff and John Dryden all finished with creditable +2 scores. Richard claimed second on countback from Paul M.

Jim McMullan, Ali Mawby, Warren Carey and Warren Green also played under their handicaps with +1, while Lexie Wilson and Barry Rhodes ended all square on 0 on a day of generally good scoring in changeable conditions.

For the fifth week in a row, no-one scored a two so the jackpot continues to mount.

Next week (Sept 12) the 18-holers play the third and final round of qualifying for the club champs off the blue tees. It also carries Barkman points and counts towards Shootout qualification. 

The 9-holers play a net round off the front nine.
