It was Graham Galt's time to shine as he took out the third round of the Penketh Plate on Saturday.

The smooth swinging 15-handicapper was in the groove from the get-go to record an impressive net 68 off the blue tees in changeable weather conditions.

He was chased all the way by Craig Barron who finished with a net 69 for second.

Michael Savage claimed third with a tidy 70.

Barry Rhodes was fourth on countback from Andy Isle after both scored 71. Andy's 80 off the stick was the best gross of the day and helped him consolidate his lead in the competition with one round to go.

Next were Jim McMullan (75) and the trio of Peter Green, Paul Tunnicliff and Peter Watson with 76 apiece.

Andy and Aaron Kotua shared the twos money with one each.

Among the nine-holers, Paul McCrae pipped Heather Carey on countback for first after both completed the back nine in net 35. Paul's two on No 14 proved the difference.

Lloyd Moyle (37), Gareth Edwards (38) and Richard Pearson (39) completed the top five.

Next Saturday (Jan 13) we play the first round of the Stubberfield Cup which is a net plus putts round off the white tees. The nine-holers will play a net round off the front nine.
