Bryan Ramsey cruised to victory in the Penketh Plate with a rock solid final round on Saturday that left his challengers in his wake.
The super veteran closed out of the four-round competition (where the best three scores count) with a net 71 playing off a 20 handicap from the white tees in hot conditions.
Together with a 71 in round two and a blistering 65 in round three, his three-round total of 207 got the job done with room to spare. It was a fitting reward for some very consistent golf.
Another vet, Ian Hanford, shot his second 69 to finish in second with a total of 212.
Andy Isle finished with a 73 for a total of 216 and third place, while Gareth Edwards was next with a 72 for a total of 217.
In the match of the day, Jason Lee got the nod on countback from Ian after both posted 69.
Lewis Wilson claimed third also on countback from Bryan and Matt Tomczyk after all came in with 71.
Next were Duncan Isle and Gareth on 72, with James Campion, Aaron Kotua and Andy making up the top 10 with 73 each.
Andy, Keri Kotua and Mike Williams shared the twos money with one each.
Andrew Green was the best of the nine-holers on a good day for scoring. His 23 stableford points playing off a 9 handicap for the front nine was just good enough to beat Roma Elkington who totalled 22 points. Neil Howard (210 was third, while John Dixon took fourth on countback from Barry Rhodes and David Monopoli after all finished with 19 points.
Next Saturday (Feb 14) the 18-holers play the first round of the Cap-It-All Trophy which is a four ball best ball with drawn partners. The 9-holers play a net round off the back nine.
