Andy Isle's resurgence continued when he won the second round of the Burns Philp Cup on Saturday (Dec 9) to take an early lead in the summer stableford competition.

A rough few months over winter saw his handicap drift out to 11, but he has bounced back emphatically in recent weeks to be one of the form players.

His 40 stableford points on Saturday on the back of an excellent 76 off the stick - the best of the day - was just good enough for the win as golfers enjoyed the perfect conditions and playing off the white tees on a course with more summer run.

Another player regaining his form, Paul Tunnicliff, took second on countback from Bryan Ramsey and Chris Louth after all came in with 39 points.

They were followed by Jack Denton (38), Duncan Isle (37) and Jonathan Tuheke and Mike Murphy with 36 each.

Peter Watson, Roma Elkington and Graham Galt completed the top 11 with 35 points apiece.

Five players - Geoff Halkett, Graham G, Craig Barron, Aaron Kotua and Brendan Doyle - shared the twos money with one each.

Bradley Brown topped the 9-holers, shooting a 39 for the back nine to total an impressive 21 stablefords. Paul McCrae pipped Lloyd Moyle for second on countback after both recorded 20 points, while Noel Quinlivan and Ali Mawby were next with 19 points each.

Next Saturday (Dec 16) we play the second round of the Penketh Plate, which is an all irons round off the white tees. The 9-holers will play a net round off the front nine.
