Heavy overnight rain made for tough scoring conditions for the resumption of the Barkman Trophy and Shootout on Saturday (Aug 9).

Chis Louth handled it best in shooting a net 76 off the white tees to top the field.

Ian Hanford secured second with 78, while Aaron Kotua grabbed third on countback from Lewis Wilson, Matt Tomcyzk and Roma Elkington after all came in with 79.

Andy Isle claimed the final Barkman point on offer on countback from Maurice Woodhouse after both recorded 80.

Garth Jameson had the consolation of scoring the only two of the day, on No 14,  in an otherwise forgettable round.

There was slightly better scoring among the 9-holers who played the back nine, with Warren Green the only one to play to his handicap with a net 36.

Daniel Allen's 37 - which contained the only two, on No 14, - was good enough for second.

Andrew Green and John Dixon were next with 39, while the quartet of Richard Pearson, Mark Sherlaw, Andrew Dean and Phil Sellers all managed 40.

Next Saturday (Aug 16) we play the first qualifying round of the club champs, which also doubles as the first round of the Stoke competition and counts towards the Barkman Trophy an Shootout. It will be played off the blue tees which will provide an extra challenge. With so much to play for, we hope for a big turnout.

The 9-holers will play a stableford off the front nine.
