Andy Isle and Paul McCrae will play Peter Green and Lewis Wilson in the final of the Brebde Senior/Junior after contrasting wins on Saturday.

Early favourites Andy and Paul eased to a comfortable 4/3 win over Paul Tunnicliff who had to take them on by homself after his partner Charlie Edgarton was forced into Covid isolation. Paul put up a typical  battling effort to be only two down at the turn but the odds were always stacked against him, especially with in-form Andy shooting 76 off the stick from the blue tees.

Peter and Lewis trailed in their semi-final against a steady Steve Russell and Phil Brennan after winning the first hole then losing both No 3 and 4. It wasn't until double success on No 11 and 12 that they nosed in front only for Steve and Phil to even it up at the next hole. Peter and Lewis regained the lead on No 14 only to lose the next. Peter's parred No 16 to edge them ahead again and Lewis - who shot an net 72 - sealed the deal on No 17 for a 2/1 win.

The final will be played next Saturday (May 7).

In the match of the day for those not involved in the Brebde, Aaron Kotua won on countback from Maurice Woodhouse after both shot impressive +6 scores in the par round format. Their matching 78s off the stick were also the best gross scores in the competition, which was played off the white tees.

Close behind in third was Brad Crabb, who came in with a +5.

He was followed by Geoff Halkett (+2), Jason Lee and Greg Mann (0), Warren Carey (-1), Jim McMullan (-2), with Peter Watson (-3) and Rangi Kohe (-3) completing the top 10 on another cracker autumn day for golf.

The twos money was shared by Aaron, Warren, Geoff and Bradley Brown.

The match of the day next week will be an Irish stableford off the blue tees.
