Club results for April 9, 2022

The first competition of the winter season, the Brebde Senior/Junior, got underway in glorious autumn conditions on Saturday, with three matches in the matchplay with drawn pairs format.

Five other teams got byes through to the quarter-finals on April 23.  

Of those who played the first round, Aaron Kotua and Andrew Craig took awhile to subdue Geoff Halkett and Barry Rhodes before prevailing 2/1. Paul Tunnicliff and Charlie Edgarton saw off Rangi Kohe and Mick Leggett 3/2, while the favoured pairing of Andy Isle and Paul McCrae were made to work hard before overcoming Richard Pearson and Kevin Hurst 3/1, with Paul proving the difference with a net 68 off the blue tees.

The remainder of the field played a net round, with Lindsay Brooks taking the honours on countback from Peter Green after both returned net 69. Peter had the consolation of shooting the best gross of the day, a fine 76. Bryan Ramsey finished third with a 71. 

Jasper Broad-Kolff and Peter Watson were next with 72. They were followed by Barbara Kotua  and Keri Kotua with 73 each, Jim McMullan (74) and Steve Russell, Lewis Wilson and Chris Kenchington on 75.

Andy , Keri and Jack Denton shared the twos money.

Next Saturday (April 16) we play the first round of both the Barkman Trophy and Shootout.
