Club results for August 3, 2019

Scoring was typically high for the first round of qualifying for the club champs on Saturday (Aug 3).

A swirling wind and winter ground conditions off the blue tees made things tricky but doesn't fully explain why no-one in the field played to their handicap.

The best performers were two intermediate graders, Terry Hemi and Paul Tunnicliff who both shot nett 73s, with Terry bagging first place on countback.

The consistent Dave Blake finished third on 74.

Dean Goodman headed the group on 75s, which also included Jonathan Tuheke, Rob Willems and Andy Isle.

Rod Thomason, Dave Slow and Brendon Boyle rounded off the top ten with 77s.

In the seniors, Andy Isle's 83 was the best gross, while Paul Tunnicliff heads the intermediates with 89 off the stick. A 94 was good enough to see Dave Blake on top of the competitive junior A grade. Brad Crabb leads the junior B grade on 112.

Paul Tunnicliff and Any Isle shared the twos prize pool.

Next Saturday (Aug 10) is the second round of qualifying for the club champs, the second round of the DB Stroke and the second round of the Divisional Stroke. It is also a Shootout round. The match of the day is again a nett round off the blue tees.

We hope to see more people tee it up as you are required to play two of the three qualifying rounds to be in with a chance of making the quarter-finals of the club champs.
