Fresh from being crowned the Intermediate Champ at the Maitai Masters, Peter Green maintained the momentum by winning the first round of the Penketh Cup on Saturday (Dec 5).

The big-hitting 11.6 handicapper was the only golfer in a small field to break par in the nett competition, carding a tidy 71 off the blue tees in fine conditions.

He pipped Paul Tunnicliff for top honours , who carded a 72, by a shot, with Barry Rhodes (73) a further shot back in third.

Next was Bryan Ramsey (74) who backed up well from his good showing in the Old Hickory on the Thursday, on countback from Tom Weiss (74).

Warren Carey showed some glimpses of form with a 75 to finish sixth. Paul McCrae grabbed the final Summer Fedex point on offer with a 77 for seventh on countback from Peter Watson and Winton Griggs.

Steve Turnell had a decent collect with the only two of the day plus the money from the week before.
