Andy Isle showed why he is one of the club’s top golfers in the fourth and final round of the Stubberfield Cup on Saturday (Feb 29) but Jim McMullan walked away with the silverware.

Playing off an 8 handicap in ideal conditions off the white tees, Andy shot a fine 75 off the stick for a nett 67. However, it was his excellent chipping and putting – he needed just 24 putts – which saw him win the match of the day in the nett plus putts competition with an impressive 91 total.

A red hot Dave Blake shot an even better nett round of 64 – the best of the day – but his 28 putts saw him finish second with 92.

Third was the ever-steady Paul Tunnicliff on 95 (67 + 28). Winton Griggs claimed fourth on countback from Lewis Wilson after both totalled 97 (68 + 29).

Sixth was Paul McCrae, who had the putter running hot, with 98 (74 + 24). He was followed by a recovering Rod Thomason (68 + 31) and Terry Hemi (73 + 26) on 99.

Rounding off the top 10 were Jonathan Tuheke (73 + 28) and Tom Weiss (76 + 25) on 101.

Dave Blake, Paul Tunnicliff and Tom Weiss shared the twos money.

However, the cup –after the best three of four rounds were counted – went to Jim McMullan. The fast-improving 28-handicapper totalled 294, just one better than Paul Tunnicliff on 295. Paul McCrae finished third on 297 and Lewis Wilson and Tom Weiss shared fourth on 299.

Congratulations guys.
