Lewis Wilson had a day to remember on Saturday (Jan 25) in shooting a nett 61 to win the match of the day and the Penketh Plate.

The 23-handicapper was in top form in recording a 84 off the stick in benign summer conditions, with the course playing shorter than usual off the white tees because of lots of run.

But there were no denying the veteran left-hander who was steady throughout, although he was pushed all the way by Steve Turnell who recorded a fine 62 to finish second in the summer nett competition.

Further back in third was Bryan Ramsey - fresh from his ace last week - with a confident 67. He was followed by Aaron Kotua (68), with Maurice Woodhouse and Andy Isle next with 69s,. Andy's 77 was the best gross of the day.

Paul McCrae and Rangi Kohe recorded matching 70s, while a trio of 73s from Andrew Craig, Peter Watson and Richard Pearson completed  the top 11.

Andrew Craig, Jim McMullan and Peter Watson shared the twos money.

Lewis's total of 202 from the best three of four rounds (which had to include the all irons one) was comfortably better than Steve Turnell's 2017, with Andrew Craig edging Terry Hemi for third on countback after both ended with 211.
