The semi-finalists of the Individual Matchplay have been found after games of contrasting skill and standard.

In a tie of high quality in warm and still winter conditions on Saturday (July 13), Dean Goodman sunk an outrageous 50 foot birdie putt on the tough No 18 to defeat Andy Isle 1 up. Andy had a shorter putt to take it to the 19th but it slid by. Andy shot an excellent 75 off the blue tees, but Dean matched him with a 76 and took advantage of the two handicap shots Andy had to give him to eke out the victory.

Keri Kotua ended Peter Green's challenge with a 3/2 win. Neither player had their A game, but Keri's matchplay experience proved crucial in the end.

Paul Tunnicliff wore down Dave Huntley 5/4 with some typically tidy golf. Paul jumped out to an early lead with two birdies in his first four holes before applying the pressure early on the back nine to cruise into the last four.

Rob Willems had last week booked his place in the semis with a comfortable win over Phil Sellers.

In the semi-finals, to be played next Saturday (July 20), Paul will play Rob and Keri will take on Dean.

The scoring was hot in the match of the day, a bisque par played off the white tees, with all golfers recording par or better.

Steve Turnell turned it with a +10 score (nett 66) to romp to victory. Lewis Wilson pipped Graham Eggers on countback after both totalled +8, while Andrew Craig was fourth with +6. He was followed by Jack Denton and Dave Blake on +5.

The twos money was shared by four players - Paul Tunnicliff, Dave Blake, Maurice Woodhouse and Peter Watson.

The match of the day next Saturday (July 20) will be a stableford off the white tees.
