Jim McMullan showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels in running away with the match of the day on Saturday (July 6).

The 42.6 handicapper racked up the points to storm to an easy win in the Irish stableford competition, played off the white tees in glorious sunshine.

Jim's total of 91 points was well ahead of runner-up Dean Goodman who shot an excellent 77 off the stick to collect 80 stablefords. In third place was Warren Carey, making a welcome return from injury, with 78 points, while Andrew Craig grabbed fourth from Steve Turnell on countback after each garnered 76 points.

Next was Alan Church and Andy Isle on 75 points, followed by Peter Green (71 points) and Aaron Kotua (70 points). The trio of Terry Hemi, Kerry Kotua and Paul Tunnicliff totalled 68 points each to round out the top 12.

Former club member Hamish McWhinnie and Kerry Kotua shared the twos money with $14 each.

Rob Willems is the first player into the semi-finals of the individual matchplay when he comfortably dealt with Phil Sellers's challenge 4/2 in a match that was played a week early. Rob was two up at the turn after going out in 37 and coasted to victory after Phil mucked up a couple of holes early in the back nine.

The rest of the quarter-final ties will be played next Saturday (July 13). The match of the day will be a bisque par off the white tees.

The start time will be 10am frost permitting so please report to the starter by 9.30am to give everyone time to warm up and be briefed.
