You never get tired of winning. Just ask Paul Tunnicliff who has been doing it season after season.

On a sunny Saturday the 12-handicapper was at it again in shooting a typically tidy net 70 to win the third round of the Barkman Trophy by two shots.

He was the only one to shoot under his handicap on a course softened by a week of wet weather, although the greens were in excellent condition and the white tees were used.

Andrew Craig - who incidentally plays Paul in next week's individual matchplay quarter-finals - continued his good run of form by finishing second with a net 72.

Peter Green also looked in good touch in coming home with a 73, which could have been even better if not for a couple of late blemishes. His 77 off the stick was easily the best gross and the only score under 80 on a day of generally high scoring.

Geoff Halkett, who also recorded a 73,  was pushed back into fourth on countback.

Next best were Kevin Hurst and Rangi Kohe with 78, while Peter Watson grabbed the last Barkman point with a dismal 80.

The net round also counted towards the Shootout with Paul, Peter G and Geoff all advancing their position.

With no twos recorded last week, there was extra up for grabs which was shared by Paul, Steve Russell and Peter W.

Next week (June 11) the last eight battle it out for a place in the individual matchplay semi-finals which will be played off the blue tees.

The draw is: Paul Tunnicliff v Andrew Craig, Barry Rhodes v Geoff Halkett, Peter Green v Callum Hogg, Warwick King v Steve Russell

The match of the day for those not involved in the matchplay is a par round off the blue tees.
