The first round of the individual matchplay on Saturday (May 23) produced its fair share of solid wins and surprises.

It was much closer in the remaining matches, with Phil Sellers finally getting the better of Warwick King 2 up in a seesawing battle, while Ian Hanford played well to overcome Lindsay Brooks by the same margin.

The outcome of the final match was still to be decided after Tom Weiss and John McGougan were tied after 18 holes and decided to come back during the week to finish off.

Paul McCrae and Ian Hanford shared the twos money with one apiece.

Meanwhile, Aaron Kotua was in the prizes for the second week running, winning the match of the day for those not playing in the individual matchplay or with first-round byes.
