Club results for May 30, 2020
The quarter-finalists for the Individual Matchplay have been found after eight further matches today (May 30).
Played in late Autumn sunshine off the blue tees on a course starting to lengthen in the heavier conditions, Jack Denton again led the way with another thumping 6/5 win, this time over Phil Sellers.
Andy Isle made no race of it against Peter Green with a 5/4 victory, while Paul McCrae came from two down early to see off Steve Chetham by the same score.
Dave Blake was too steady for Keri Kotua in winning 4/3 and Peter Watson always had his nose in front in besting Alan Church 4/3.
Dean Goodman finally subdued a strong challenge from Rod Thomason 2 up, while Ian Hanford just got the better of Jonathan Tuheke 2/1. Aaron Kotua fought off John McGougan also by a 2/1 margin.
Next Saturday (June 6) Aaron Kotua will play Andy Isle, Ian Hanford takes on Dave Blake, Jack Denton is up against Dean Goodman and Paul McCrae and Peter Watson do battle.
In the match of the day - a par round off the white tees - Winton Griggs headed the field with +3. He was followed by Steve Russell on +1. Warren Carey won third on countback from his good mate Steve Turnell after both finished with -2. The trio of Paul Tunnicliff, Barry Rhodes and Simon Hassan were next with -3.
Dean Goodman and Maurice Woodhouse shared the twos money with a birdie each.
The match of the day next week for those not involved in the matchplay is a nett round off the blue tees.
