Paul Tunnicliff prevailed in the first six-hole challenge event played on Saturday (Nov 9).

The new format sees players take on each of their drawn foursome over six holes of matchplay - in effect three matches totalling 18 holes. Each win is worth two points and a halved match one point.

Heavy rain threatened to derail the competition but thankfully cleared long enough for players to finish.

Paul - fresh from winning both the match of the day and the Shootout final the previous Saturday - continued his good form in winning all three of his matches (although one included a walkover) to collect the maximum six points. Alan Church also won his three matches but had to settle for second because he won fewer holes doing so.

Dean Goodman, with two wins and a half, was third on countback from Dave Blake and Aaron Kotua who also finished on five points but won fewer holes. They were followed by Steve Russell, Keri Kotua, Richard Pearson, Rob Willems and Lewis Wilson who all managed two wins.

Rob, Keri and Warwick King shared the twos money.

There was general agreement that the format was fun to play and well worth repeating.
