Richard Pearson is built tough.

A former climber and keen cyclist who plays golf with two artificial hips, RP proved yet again that he is still very competitive in his 80s.

Shrugging off a debilitating medical issue, he shot a net 36 playing off a 7 handicap for the back nine to win the Golden Oldies match of the day on Thursday (June 11).

Tom Kennedy and Maurice Woodhouse also enjoyed the sunny conditions to share second with 37 apiece, while new member John Dryden and Roma Elkington finished joint third on 38.

Next were Chris Louth and Mark Sherlaw on 39, while Brendan Doyle, John Dixon and Lloyd Moyle rounded out the top 10 with 40 each.

Tom Kennedy and Bryan Ramsey shared the twos money with one each on No 11.
