Everyone's form ebbs and flows but Chris Louth struck a good day when he headed the field on the first round of the Langley Trophy on Thursday.

But his fine effort was somewhat overshadowed by Lloyd Moyle who scored his first hole-in-one on No 2, with his sweetly struck shot with a hard-to-miss orange ball finding the bottom of the cup.

Meanwhile, Chris recorded a +4 for the front nine for his second win of the week.

Tucked in behind were the trio of Michael Doyle, Paul Tunnicliff and Bryan Ramsey on +3. They were followed by Brian Clinton (+2) and the threesome of Neil Howard, Ian Hanford and Ray Hopgood - who scored the only two of the day - on +1 each.

Next were John Dixon, Noel Shaw, Tom Kennedy, Lloyd, Phil Sellers and Gordon Combe on 0 on what was a pleasant day for golf.

After the first round, the second and final round on November 24 will be played with drawn partners in the par round format over a total of 18 holes.

Next week (Nov 3) the Golden Oldies play a stableford round off the front nine.
