Golden Oldies results for 27/3/25

  • Peter Watson

Many of our Golden Oldies took full advantage of the golden weather to dine out on a sunbaked course on Thursday (March 27).

More than half the field either equaled or bettered their handicaps in the benign conditions.

Michael Doyle topped the standings in the Simplicity Funerals match of the day, which was a stableford off the front nine. Playing off a generous 19 handicap, he amassed 25 points.

Warren Carey shot an excellent 41 playing off an 11 to claim second with 24 points.

Mark Sherlaw and Andrew Dean shared third after posting 22 points each. They were followed by Jim McMullan (21), and the trio of Lloyd Moyle, Chris Louth and Bryan Ramsey who recorded 20 points apiece.

Paul Tunnicliff, Paul McCrae and Phil Sellers were next on 19, while Peter Watson - who shot 39 off the stick - finished 12th with 18 points.

Bryan Ramsey earned a decent collect with the only two of the day, on No 2.

Next Thursday (April 3) the Golden Oldies play a par round off the back nine, while our Old Hickory team is in action at Takaka in the third round of the inter-club competition for veterans.
