Getting up and down and putting well took on added importance on Thursday (June 6) as the Golden Oldies played a net plus putts round off the front nine.

David Harman showed he is finally getting the hang of playing at Waahi Taakaro with a tidy net 32 and 14 putts for a total of 46 to win his first match of the day.

The ever-present Paul McCrae (34+13) finished second just one shot shy on 47.

Roma Elkington (37 + 12) putted particularly well to come home in third, while there was a three-way tie for fourth between Paul Tunnicliff ((35+15), John Dixon (35+15) and Chris Louth (36+14).

No-one managed a two despite excellent playing conditions, but Ali Mawby had a good collect after winning the hidden hole, No 2 with a net one.

Next week (June 13) the Golden Oldies play the fifth round of the Polly Pearce Memorial Trophy, which is a net round off the front 9.
