Horror start for Old Hickory team

Our Old Hickory team started the year with a groan after bringing home the popgun for finishing last at Totaradale on Thursday.
Apart from Jack Denton with a meritorious 37 stableford points, the other team members struggled to make headway, with many finding the faster greens tough to read.
Next best was Graham Strickett with 30 points. He was followed by Tom Kennedy (29) Grant Fergusson (28). Our non-scorers were Barry Rhodes (27) and Bryan Ramsey (25).
Our team score of 124 was two worse than Tasman on 126.
The home club took full advantage of local knowledge to romp to victory with 147 points with Elton Netto leading the way.
Takaka finished second on 133, one ahead of Nelson (132). Motueka pipped Greenacres on countback after both came in with 128 points.
We have a chance to make amends at Greenacres on March 2.
