King of the Junior Bs

Our final NBS club champ of the year has been found, with Warwick King defeating Grant Fergusson 4/3 to take the Junior B title.

Warwick graciously waited for Grant to sufficiently recover from a nasty virus before playing their 18-hole showdown on Thursday.

It was nip and tuck through the front nine which ended all square. Warwick went ahead on No 2 only for Grant to even it up the next hole. Warwick regained the lead with a bogey going up the hill but then fell behind when Grant parred No 7 and won No 8 with a bogey. However, the veteran leftie made a marvellous birdie on No 9 to get back to even and then shot out to a match-winning lead by securing the next three holes, which started with a bogey on No 10 and was followed by pars on No 11 and No 12. They halved the next two holes with bogies before Warwick delivered the coup de grace by winning No 15 with a bogey against a game opponent.
