Melville masters matchplay

Pat Melville has proved yet again he is matchless at matchplay.

In balmy winter conditions, the `Postman' finally dispatched Mike Murphy 2/1 to win Saturday's individual matchplay final, but only after overcoming some stiff resistance.

Pat was leading 4 up at one stage but Mike clawed his way back into the match to grab the lead before Pat finished the stronger.

It continues Pat's remarkable record this season, which has seen him unbeaten in matchplay, including the Sloan Trophy.

Congratulations El Presidente.

Meanwhile, in the fourth and final round of the Stubberfield Cup, which also doubled as a Barkman Trophy and Shootout round, Dean Goodman took top honours with an impressive 93 total in the nett plus putts format. Maurice Woodhouse grabbed second (95) on countback  from the ever-consistent Elton Netto while our visiting pro Nick Loach finished a very respectable fourth on 96. Results of the Stubberfield Cup will follow shortly.

There were four twos scored on the day, by Paul Tunnicliff, Alan Muir, Elton Netto and Bradley Crabb.
