Old Hickory team take third

Our Old Hickory team finished the year with a hard-earned third place on a windswept Totaradale course on Thursday (Dec 3).

Predictably the home team handled the gale the best to sail to a comfortable win, but for most golfers it was a struggle.

Bryan Ramsey led our scoring with a very creditable 34 stableford points – one of the better rounds of the day. He received sound support from Ian Hanford (30 pts), Barry Rhodes (28 pts) and Warwick King (28 pts). Rob Shand (27 pts) and Ray Hopgood (25 pts) found it tougher going.

Totaradale – boosted by 37 points (the best of the day) from Brian Miller – totalled 136 points, eight clear of Tasman in second place. Waahi Taakaro was third on 120. We were followed by Takaka (114), Motueka (110) and Nelson and Greenacres on a paltry 99 each. Greenacres was awarded the popgun on countback. There were no twos.
