Old Hickory team third again

Our Old Hickory team put in another worthy challenge in finishing third at Tasman on Thursday (Oct 3).

Captain and co-selector Tom Kennedy led from the front with 42 stableford points - the second best of the day - and that was without scoring on three holes.

He was well supported by Elton Netto (37 points and Phil Sellers (35 points), while Paul Tunnicliff chipped in with 32 points. For Rob Shand (27 points) and Denis Blomquist (24 points) it was a tough walk ruined but at least they could admire the views on what was a okay Spring day.

Our total of 146 points was just shy of second-placed Totaradale who amassed 148 points, but it was no surprise that the home team walked away with the trophy given the peculiar challenges that Tasman provides. Their total of 154 points showed once again that local knowledge tends to be crucial.

Greenacres took fourth with 140 points followed by Motueka and Takaka on 131 points. Not for the first time Nelson languished in last with 118 points and took home the popgun.
