Opening day 30/3/24

Pete Green and Graham Galt finished top of the pile in a low key but enjoyable opening day of the season four ball best ball on Saturday (March 30).

An odd number of players meant Pete didn't start with a drawn partner but was fortunate to get Graham - who partnered Paul Tunnicliff - as a random pick after all cards were submitted.

Pete and Graham combined sweetly for a net 63 to take the honours, while Paul and Graham finished second with 65 on a perfect autumn day.

There was a three-way tie for third on 66, but Peter Watson and Geoff Halkett got the nod on countback from Warren Carey and Andy Isle and Heather Carey and Ali Mawby.

Next were Michael Savage and Dean Goodman on 67 followed by Aaron Kotua and Duncan Isle, Keri Kotua and Steve Turnell, and Garth Jameson and Lindsay Brooks with 69s.

Bryan Ramsey and Paul McCrae trailed the field on 70.

The twos money was shared between Keri, Geoff, Graham and Peter with one each. Peter hit the longest drive on No 10, while Wazza was closest to the pin on No 5.

The best individual nets on the day were shared by Peter and Lindsay with 71, while Peter's 76 off the white tees was the best gross followed by Keri (78) and Pete (79).

The afternoon finished with a BBQ and some very un-PC prizes.

Next week (April 6) we play the first round of the Barkman Trophy and Shootout which is a net round off the blue tees.
