Phil Sellers bounced back to form in winning the first round of the Laurie Ashby Cup on Thursday (Aug 14).
After a tough few weeks, Phil shone on a glorious winter's day with 20 stableford points for the front nine playing off a 12 handicap.
Richard Pearson and Paul McCrae also played under their handicaps in sharing second with 19 points each.
The quartet of Barry Rhodes, Chris Louth, Lloyd Moyle and Noel Shaw were next with 17 points apiece. They were followed by the trio of Ian Hanford, John Dixon and Peter Watson on 16 points.
Martin Lubransky took home a decent payout for scoring the only two of the day after chipping in at No 2. The hidden hole was not struck.
The Laurie Ashby Cup is played over three 9-hole rounds of stableford. The player with the highest points total over all three rounds wins.
Next Thursday (Aug 21) the Golden Oldies play another round of the Worley Trophy which will be a par round off the front nine.
