Lloyd Moyle won his first Golden Oldies silverware when he clinched the Polly Pearce Memorial Trophy on Thursday after a putt-off with Warren Green.

Both men finished the six-round net competition with the same best four-round total so off to the putting green they went to settle things. There was only a few millimeters in it but Lloyd was closest to the pin.

Earlier in the day it was Chris Louth who took out the final round with a net 36 for the back nine in very heavy conditions after a lot of recent rain.

Paul Tunnicliff came home strongly for 37 for second, while Neil Howard and Noel Shaw shared third on 38. Next were Lloyd - who made it an even more memorable day by slotting the only two - and Jimmy Gargiulo on 39.

The hidden hole was not struck.

Next Thursday (Aug 7) the Golden Oldies play a net plus putts round off the front nine.
