Our Sloan Trophy team played hosts on Sunday but we remain still in contention despite having the day off.

We currently sit third equal - seven and a half points off the lead - after three rounds but have the advantage of having already got rid of our bye.

On a glorious day for golf, Totaradale retained its competition lead in battling to a draw with Motueka which earned both teams four points.

Golden Downs roared into second by thumping Tasman 8-1, while Murchison got the better of Takaka 7-2.

In the final match Nelson caned a struggling Greenacres team 8-1 to get is challenge back on track.

Games were played off the blue tees, with many golfers commenting favourably on the state of the course and its rapid recovery from August's big flood.

So after three rounds Totaradale has 18 points, two ahead of Golden Downs (16).There is a three way tie for third between Waahi Taakaro, Motueka, and Takaka on 11.5. Just behind on 11 points each are Murchison, Tasman and Nelson, while Greenacres languishes in last place on 4.5 points. Murchison, Golden Downs and Waahi Taakaro have had their byes.

The next round is at Tasman on April 16.
